Legendary versatile South Indian actor Kamal Haasan pulls double duty in this ridiculously mind-bending masala actioner from Tamil cinema to flawlessly perform two different roles. One, a corrupt but kind-hearted brake inspector and the other, his ageing father – a righteous yet bloodthirsty war veteran out to avenge the unjust death of his daughter by exterminating society’s frauds, including his own son. Director Shankar’s narrative is erratic and absurd, but never boring thanks to some psychedelic visuals and sensational song sequences featuring a classic soundtrack from A.R. Rahman.
